About the Course
The Drawing Course for Beginners in Warsaw is a practical program designed for beginners, drawing enthusiasts, and anyone who wants to build a strong foundation in classical drawing. The course is also suitable for students preparing for entrance exams to art schools and universities who wish to improve their observation skills, understand form, and master composition.
The program is based on the principles of classical academic drawing. Step by step, you will learn perspective, constructive drawing, light and shadow, composition, and drawing from life. You will develop the ability to analyze proportions, create convincing three-dimensional forms, and accurately represent space on a flat surface.
Throughout the course, we will work with graphite pencils, charcoal, sanguine, black chalk (sauce), and other traditional drawing materials. Each topic builds upon the previous one, allowing you to gradually progress from simple geometric solids to more complex still lifes and compositions.
This course is suitable both for complete beginners and for those who want to strengthen their drawing skills and build a solid academic foundation.

Course Program
LESSON 1. Perspective Fundamentals, Hand Control & Hatching
1 lesson (2.5 hours)
Introduction to academic drawing. Learn proper hand positioning, different hatching techniques, and exercises that improve pencil control, line quality, and confidence.
Materials: A3 paper, graphite pencil.
LESSON 2. Constructive and Tonal Drawing of a Plaster Cube
1 lesson (2.5 hours)
Learn the fundamentals of linear perspective by drawing a plaster cube and understanding how objects change depending on their position in space.
LESSON 3. Constructive Drawing of a Cylinder. Fundamentals of Drawing Ellipses
1 lesson (2.5 hours)
Study the construction of cylindrical forms and learn how to draw accurate ellipses while understanding three-dimensional space.
LESSON 4. Constructive and Tonal Drawing of a Plaster Sphere
1 lesson (2.5 hours)
Learn how light and shadow create volume by drawing a plaster sphere and developing smooth tonal transitions.
LESSON 5. Composition with Geometric Solids
2 lessons (2.5 hours each)
Learn to arrange multiple geometric forms into balanced compositions while understanding proportion, perspective, and spatial relationships.
LESSON 6. Drapery
2 lessons (2.5 hours each)
Study how fabric folds and behaves under gravity. Learn to render texture, light, shadow, and subtle tonal transitions.
Materials: Charcoal, sanguine or black chalk (optional), blending stump.
LESSON 7. Constructive Drawing of Simple Objects
2 lessons (2.5 hours each)
Develop accurate construction skills by drawing everyday objects using symmetry axes, perspective, and auxiliary construction lines.
LESSON 8. Still Life
2 lessons (2.5 hours each)
Draw a classical still life while learning to represent proportions, composition, materials, and spatial relationships.
LESSON 9. Grisaille Still Life
2 lessons (2.5 hours each)
Explore the monochromatic grisaille technique, focusing on values, light, shadow, and volume without using color.
Materials: Soft drawing materials, blending stump.

Veronika Ivashkevich
The Academic Drawing Fundamentals Course is based on traditional classical teaching methods that have been refined through years of practice. The program has been developed with beginners in mind, making it suitable even for students with no previous drawing experience or artistic education.
The course follows the classical academic principle of "from simple to complex." Rather than being a collection of unrelated lessons, it is a structured learning program that develops both technical drawing skills and the ability to draw confidently from observation and imagination.
Each exercise has been carefully designed to be clear, practical, and easy to understand, allowing students to gradually build confidence while mastering the fundamental principles of academic drawing.
Veronika Ivashkevich
Veronika Ivashkevich graduated from the St. Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts. In 2021, she was awarded the Gaude Polonia scholarship in Warsaw, and in 2022, she received the Denis Diderot Scholarship in Orquevaux, France.
Her work has been exhibited in both solo and group exhibitions and is included in private collections in Bulgaria, France, Lithuania, Poland, Switzerland, the United States, as well as in the Krupa Art Foundationcollection in WrocΕaw.
